I have read every answer to this question so far and I am surprised that no one has looked at the other side of it.

I don't know whether suicide can ever be justified or not, but I do know about watching a person with a terminal illness lay in a bed and suffer in pain and just wither away. They take pain meds to ease the pain but they've had to take them for so long that the pain is still there. All that happens is a terrible paranoia sets in from the drugs. They know they are dying, the doctors, nurses, everyone knows they are dying, but for some reason fate takes a cruel turn and they just lay there, day after day, in pain and awful indignity.

Do you think suicide is justified then and ONLY then?

Committing suicide just because life isn't going right is a very
selfish thing to do.

In terms of a terminally ill person, I totally agree that they should have the choice to end their life on their terms. In terms of a person with mental illness, I am not so clear. I have been there and tried it more than once, obviously unsuccessfully. At the time, I could have given you a million reasons why it was perfectly fine for me to do it. Right now, I can not come up with a single one.

i almost did once. actually really resently. i am just so happy that i didnt. becaus no matter how bad that it can get, at home or at school (work maybe?) its just not the way to go. people need to talk things out and it will make u feel so much better. plus if u die there isnt any 'better'. that will be it. DONT DO IT.

no its not ok its taking the easy way out.. people think that they should get respect if they decide to kill themselves but you get more respect by dealing with your problems.. i know how hard it is to deal with alot of emotional pain i myself have at one point been suicidal but im better now and i realize that it takes more to stay alive then it does to die

Well, I can understand people who are thinking about it.
But DON"T DO IT !!!!!

Most of the time we overcome our problems, even though it seems to be impossible right now.

And don't forget the people who love you. Think how you will feel if somebody you love would do it......
