capoeria is more of a flashy martial art. it no doubt takes a great amount of physical fitness and strength which will benefit your karate skills. however, if your a serious martial artist you would prabably be practicing karate every day for at least an hour or two and might find doing both to be too tiring on your body.

Help you how?

Capoeira will certainly get you better conditioned, in that respect it will help you.

However, doing high flips and high kicks is not going to be of any benefit to you as it has little or no martial value.

I have been told that capoeira does have combat applications and they are not the stuff you see on these "showing off" videos.

I have not personally seen it, or ever seen a video of capoeira bieng used in what would even look or seem like an effective way.

If I were you I would do some more research into it to see if you can find a school that teaches it from a combat perspective. Something like this that is so suspect I would immediately tell you to find out if there is sparring with contact in the class- if not then I wouldn't even look at the school further.

Capoeira is a Brazilian martial arts that uses music. It is like dancing doing high kicks and flips and is a form of defense. It is very effective and the workout is pretty amazing. It's also fun doing.

You got the name right. It's a Brazilian system of fighting disguised to look like dance. It was developed by slaves whose owners didn't allow them to learn to fight. All the high jumps & flips look impressive, but I'm more than a little skeptical as to their real world practicality. The excercise value is a different matter. Learning the extreme moves should help your regular moves.

Anything can help in physical training. I have known some competition people that worked in gymnastics to improve themselves.
