Here's a poem I wrote many years ago for a friend in the military:

Farewell Sweet Soldier

Farewell sweet soldier…
The day has faded into
Another night to fear
The thought of losing you.

Farewell sweet soldier…
I fear the hours in which we sleep…
When I awaken, will you be there still?
Or will an angel take you from me?

Farewell sweet soldier…
I’m wishing on a star tonight…
I wonder, do you see
The star shining so bright?

Farewell sweet soldier…
May the gods of slumber
Watch over you as you dream
Amidst the chaos and the fear.

Farewell sweet soldier…
Dream of the war’s end,
When you will come home to me
And the love that we will make.

Farewell sweet soldier…
I love you though you’re far away,
Though I cannot touch you,
Though I cannot see you.

Farewell sweet soldier…
One day I’ll hold you in my arms…
I just pray it won’t be the day
The angels take you from me.

Farewell sweet soldier…
Should you not awaken,
Know that I am with you
On your journey up to Heaven.

Farewell sweet soldier…
I know you will survive
For as you defend your country,
It’s my love keeping you alive.

You made a tough decision that many young men will not make. I applaud you for that. Stay focussed and motivated.

Right now it's snowing at Fort Detrick, MD. I saw on the news the streets of Baghdad were wet yesterday. The rain sucked in Iraq when I was there. It collects on your boots like wet cement. I've been there and can relate.

Hi Jason...

*Hugs* to a hero.

Is there anything we can get for you or do for you back here in the States?

I'd be happy to ship you a piece of home if you would like... I have a spare box and I need to make a trip to the post office anyways. ;)

Where are you from back here?

Tammy....

PS... I'll keep an eye on this thread in case you take me up on my offer. You can also email me.

Keep your guard up and your head down! Learn to speak Arabic a little so you can talk to people rather than yell at them in English a language they don't understand.

She sounds slightly confusing. Having were in undesirable relationships she might desire to nevertheless no longer be waiting or trusting sufficient to get into something genuine. i think of it may be suited in case you gave her extra time earlier certainly one of those vast substitute regardless of if it may be extra advantageous for her, she wont be attentive to it. feels like she needs to experiance slightly extra of what existence has to furnish earlier purely settling down. enable her have one lasting relationship she would be able to in all risk even nevertheless no longer be with the guy continually so she would be able to be attentive to what a stable ingredient replaced into and misplaced it. Then once you come lower back you would be purely as stable if no extra advantageous, and she or he'll be attentive to she might desire to shop you. women are confusing like that I see it to in many cases a woman getting used or abused, the 1st stable guy who comes alongside they don't be attentive to it till at last they have misplaced it, so as that they be attentive to next time to hold on. Thats all i will think of.
