D. Babylon...because that was where Zoroastrianism was if I remember correctly. The whole thing with good and evil, angels and demons and saints, didn't really exist in Hebrew culture until it was exposed to Zoroaster. And Zoroastrianism is what most forgetful books just classify as a kind of paganism that surrounded little urban literate puddles of Hebrew civilizations.

I would say. E...ROME.

Paul was able to spread Christianity to Rome due to the use of the Greek language as a standard language of the Empire. That and the good roads and safe trade routes allowed him to proselytize all over the Empire. When the Empire finally embraced the faith, that did even more to spread the faith as it had the backing of Rome.

In regards to Islam, it was not the power or Rome but the fall of Rome that was the benefit to Islam and allowed it to spread. With the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 CE, there was a massive power vacuum as Western Europe and the remains of the Western Roman Empire fell into the Dark Ages.

When Muhammad came along in the 7th Century (601 -700 CE) that power vacuum was at its peak as the final remains of the authority of the Western Roman Empire disappeared. As a result, there was no single nation with enough power to stop him. He picked off small nation after small nation in his Jihad.

So it was Rome. The Power of Rome supporting Xianity in its early days, the Fall of Rome and the resulting power vacuum enabling Islam to spread.
