my job forbades me to have facial piercings =( i know i cant take it out for a few weeks. what if i take a few weeks off of work? a wear a retainer in for the time being.. will it get irritated? could that cause more scarring? i want it in a spot hard to see. like sorta under my lip. my friend at work had one and she wore hers during work and you could hardly see it.. what about using those microgem labrets? that are hard to see.
should i just take liek 2 weeks of of work and get it done? and would it be safe to wear a retainer.. im just afraid switching the jewelry too much would cause more scarring and irritate it.. i work at starbucks and dont want to quit cause i just got a bunch of stock i can get if i stay there till november of 07 lol ive been workign there for 1 1/2.... they have a policy of 2 piercing in each ear. i always keep 3 or 4 in each ear and noone says anything.. but one girl got her nose pierced and everyone freaked out. she had to wear a bandaid over her nose! hah

Its fine if you were to get it pierced with a high quality quartz retainer, but if work sees that, you might have to take it out. (Ugh, I hate Starbucks even more now) But while its healing, you have to wear the retainer. Switching jewelry back and forth in a healing piercing can cause problems. Once it heals, you can wear normal jewelry when you aren't at work and retainers while you're there.
To me, it seems like way to much work to get a piercing and have to hide it all the time. Don't take time off for a piercing because you might need that time off later for something serious. If I were you, I'd pass on it for now.

2 weeks off of work isnt really worth it..plus they might fire you for that. Cant you just leave the retainer in all the time until it heals?
If not, you can switch jewelry when you get home but you'll just have to be quick about it. It shouldnt cause any scarring.
Just dont mess with it too much. Put a retainer in, in the morning before you go to work, and when you get home, put the regular jewelry in, and keep it in all night until the next day. ..but thats only if you're not able to keep the retainer in 24/7

I had mine done about 3 years ago and i like it but,.... i had the same problem about my job not wanting me wear it and it was a pain taking it out and putting it back in over, and over again,, not to mention that i lost alot of my labret jewelery and the retainers i bought looked Funny...i just eventually took it out and let it heal and now i do have a little "dot" scar there...( even though everyone told me that it wouldnt scar or be a noticeable scar) ..BUT anyhow ...GOOD LUCK on what ever you decide!!

can you just wear a bandaid over it like your coworker did with her nose piercing? i see that in jobs all the time. at least until it heals enough so that it is safe to switch to a retainer, you really shouldn't put yourself at risk of infection or scarring by going back and forth.

Monroe. except it incredibly is a ring i think of backside lip rings could stay general, it merely seems off if it incredibly is to the main appropriate or left below your lip. Monroe piercings are better to me, despite if it is your face, so i can't make the alternative for you. :) I merely think of that backside lip rings could be hoops to the ingredient, snake bites, or in basic terms a stud in the middle (i don't be conscious of what they're all observed as, ha ha). Monroes look sturdy. Monroe wins!

What do you value more: your job or piercing? Personally I'd stick to the job...
