If you buy a gift card in person either at the bank/store, can you have them print the recipent's name on the card at the same time?

Another thing it's a $50 AMERICAN EXPRESS® GIFT CARD i'm buying, would there be tax added to it?

For your first question, the cards that you purchase at either banks or retail stores are preprinted and have not been activated yet. They print then en mass because its cheaper to make and sell them this way. There is no way to get the receivers name printed on the card prior to loading. As to your second question, there is no tax on it. You are essentially transfering cash from one "form" to another, any tax that is applicable is added to whatever purchase you make with that card.

On a personal note, the best way to put the person's name on the card is to find or make a special holder for the card, that you can put their name on it along with the amount.

No these cards will not have the recipents name on it...I've tried myself to personalize one...No there wont be any tax on it.. The person who uses the card will pay the tax on the product he buys like on a regular sale...So if you want a $50 gift card youll only pay $50 not $50.89..Hope this helps

No they don't print the name on the card, but you should get an envelope to do that. Also, there is no tax, but I do believe that amex gift cards charge you a fee to activate it, anywhere from $3-5.00

In answer to your first question, no you can't have the name put on. That's why they give you the envelopes so you can address it. In answer to your second question, no there is no tax on the gift card.

No to the first question, and no to the second.
