......does this mean that all practisioners of any religion but Christianity (or more likely your specific branch of it) are the children of Satan? If that's the case, would Satan be considered more powerful than God (since the majority of the world is non-Christian)? Is a God that embodies love and mercy compatible with these principles?

I find many of your answers here appalling. Especially that of Sandy S. Her claim that it is not God's duty to conform with our principles, but our duty to conform with his begs a few questions:

Which God? Everyone seems to have their own view of one. In fact an argument could be made that we look at ourselves as individuals, and call the charasteristics that we like God. By this logic, one could summise that you are an intolerant bigot. And chose to worship an intolerant bigot as your God.

If we are made in God's image, how can we NOT conform with his wishes? Or are you taking a literalist view and mean physical image? If that's the case is God an Aboriginee? They were made in his image.

If the values that God posesses, according to you, are not reflective of values that we as a society have determined are "good" in most societies (love, truth, beauty, etc.), can God be considered good by our standards?

If he isn't good, is he God???

The God you seem to support doesn't

"Satan" is a really good way to keep people afraid of, and contemptuous of, non-believers. Classic brainwashing ploy - demonize the ones who remain sane, as well as anyone else whose ideology competes with yours for followers.

Well, wonderful question....hard answers.
First off, I am a Christian, so you might take everything I say as a grain of salt, quickly lost with all the other answeres, but before you do Aaron, listen to it. :-) First off, whoever said that people that practice a different religion our Children of Satan need to get a cat-skan...and soon. No offense to them, but they are completely wrong. You might be a muslim for all I know about you, but you are certianlly not a product, or a tool, of the devil. The only people I consider to be "satan's children" is people that claim that right. Mostly satanic, but a few buddha's may also. Maybe even some wicca, but that doesn't matter. The point is, no one is a "satan child" unless they claim that right. We might be born with evil running through us, but we are NOT born as children of satan. Secondly, Satan only has as much power as we give him! Honestly, think about it, the bigger you make a lie, the more power it has to control what you say...right? Well satan is the same way, the more power you give him credit for, the more he truely has. Now I am not telling you Aaron, to understeimate satan, I am simply telling you that he is not as powerful as you may think he is. But to be honest, Satan was created by God. He was an angel, and he wanted to elevate himself above God, in doing so he was thrown out, down to earth. Earth is now his play ground. God would have destroyed satan long ago except for one thing....us! God didn't want mindless drones loving him, he wanted us to make the choice. Think about your parents, you don't want them to love you because they gave you life, you want them to love you because you are their son, and you love them! Right? well, God is the same way, he doesn't want your love because you HAVE to give it...but because you WANT to give it! Your final question was if God is campatible with these principles... maybe he is, maybe he is not, satan is alive and well, make no mistake. But so is God. Love and Mercy yes. But the person you love, you also correct. And the Mercy you give, you also punish with. People sometimes think of God as a loving figure....which he is, but his mercy comes with punishment, and his love, with correction.
Finally, if I have convinced you of nothing, just know that I would rather live my life morally sound, with prinicpals, and a loving "fairy tale". Then to live unmoral, and to die, to find out someone's fairy tale was real. I cannot tell you what God is compatible with, I'm sorry, but I am not superwoman, maybe that is a question better suited for God himself:-)

God bless you Aaron

Who ever said that is Waaaaay off base..... no mortal "belongs" to satan...satan has dominion on this earth and his forces of evil are hard at work trying to deceive as many as they can to keep them from The Truth of God...but, satan dose not "recrute"... he is condemned and he knows it...all he is trying to do is get back at God in the only way he can..by keeping as many from God as he can.... to tell someone that they are a child of satan is not in accourd with The Teaching of Jesus The Christ who is The Head of The Church of which all who are True Christian are a part.

All who come to God in The Way He prescribes will receive His free gift of Salvation and enter Heaven...those who reject God will be eternaly seperated from Him and will suffer the same fate as those angles who followed satan in rebellion against God.

Atheists don't apply to the Satanic or Nihilist belief systems, nor do either of these three apply to the christian devil.

Paganism, Voodoo, Celtic Druidism and Shamanism don't apply to the christian devil either.

Just because it's not christian, doesn't mean it's automatically right to assume that it's the devil's work. That doesn't make sense, because in order to be part of the devil, you have to believe in a god.

To begin with, we are all the Children of God, there are no children of Satan, only followers of Satan. Satan had nothing to do with the creation of Adam and Eve, God did. We are the blood line of Adam and Eve. Having said that:

As humans we have the CHOICE of following God in the kingdom of light or following Satan in the kingdom of darkness. Satan is referred to as the prince of darkness.

The term "redeemed" means to recover ownership of by paying a specified sum and to save from a state of sinfulness and its consequences. In this case, the specified sum was the sacrifice of Christ. Therefore, if you choose not to accept Christ as your savior and are redeemed by His sacrifice and His blood, you are, by definition, not redeemed, according to the Bible. Any judgment is up to God, not me.

To suggest that Satan is more powerful than God is to ignore the fact that Satan was originally Lucifer and was in Heaven with God until he was cast out by God for trying to make himself as powerful as God. Don't forget that one third of the angels in Heaven were also cast out at the same time. If Satan (and his 1/3 share of the angels) were more powerful than God, would not God then have been the one to be cast out?

It isn't God who should be compatible with man's principles, but man who should be compatible with God's principles.

When questions like this are asked, the main point is missed: Choice. The same opportunity is afforded to every person born on earth - walk with God or not. Choice. Once you have information and can make an informed choice, the rest is up to you.

God is not a thief (like Satan) to steal your life (like Satan). He is there for you if you choose (like Satan).

I guess what this verse or quote is trying to say is...if you arent saved you arent one of gods children and if you arent gods children than theres only one other deitys child that you can be and thats satan.

In that case Satan's team would definitely have more points in Yahoo answers. So I guess he wins.

Well, technically, there are only 2 sides in the eternal battle. God and Satan. God said, If you're not for me, you're against me (Matt 12:30), so by default, if you're not with God, you're with Satan.

It comes from this passage:
John 8 (Jesus speaking)
42Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. 43Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me? 47He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."

First, these children would be children by adoption.
Second, numbers of followers does not a powerful being make.

Besides, the largest single religious group in the world....are the Catholics!

Christianity is spiritual not a club or exclusive. It is in "His name" or likeness which is Love and Forgiveness. How could one judge another with Love and Forgiveness in their heart?
