ok my personal thoughts are that people should be allowed to pray in schools, that they should have the right to wear a crucifix or a head scarf and if there is space even a prayer room. BUT only if these issues don't affect the student's learning or any other students.

Freedom includes the right to express yourself too. But then there is the issue of expressing racist or hateful opinions too, so there is a fine line but who decides? and where do you you draw the line? I don't agree with what France has enforced (no overt religious symbols) but at least it applies to all religions!

Three words: FREEDOM OF RELIGION. America is the land of the FREE, so people should be able to pray to whoever/whatever they want to, wherever they might be. To eliminate prayer from schools is a violation of the US Constitution and is both illegal and unethical.

Almost every school has an auditorium or cafeteria that can be used in the morning for those students who wish to pray together. This way it is an option for students and no one is forced to participate unless they want to.
