Don't worry. The first few days will feel like if you made a mistake in getting braces. That feeling will soon go away. In a few weeks you won't even notice that you have braces. For now, take some Tylenol and do warm salt water rinses. It will get better, and congratulations on getting braces.

No need to worry, when I first got braces I was in agony, and I couldn't talk right either, but with in a week or so I was all good, like I didn't have braces at all! =D
I took some advil as well, which helped me a bit. Also flossing and brushing regularly is the best idea to help your teeth and braces stay nice and squeaky clean.

You'll be fine and back to eating normal food instead of mush and be talking normal again real soon.

And Congrats on the new braces!

you will get used to it. In the mean time, at night, use paraffin wax so they don't continually rip up the sides of your mouth. After a while, the sides of your mouth toughen and you no longer have that problem. Here is a hint---don't get light colored elastics! After a week they discolor and get really ugly looking. And beware, they might give you headgear, but you usually only have to wear it at night. Also, they could give you rubber bands to attach to your top incisor and a bottom molar on both sides, and those take a while to get used to!
