If your own insurance will not cover your rental then your next best is to purchase the Rental companies own insurance. If you do so then make sure you are insured and the car you rent is insured to the point that you are not liable for ANY damage whatsoever. Then drive drive drive.

You can use insurance offered by a credit card company. But, there is always some but. You cannot have any car insurance on your own. It means that if you currently have your own car insurance, then the credit card company will not cover you. They use the term ¨primary¨ when you read their terms. As I remeber credit card insurance would have to be your primary car insurance. Anyway check what I´m writing here. Just giving you some hints.

If you are using a credit card to rent the car, check with the credit card company. Most times, they give you free insurance coverage for a rental car if you use that credit card (note: pay off credit card at end of billing cycle to avoid finance charges)
