Men in some sects of the Mormon church can leave their dozens of kids without paying any support. They can kick out one wife when they acquire a new one. Legalizing polygamy would give government a say in regulating the breakup or desertions in these unions. As Christ prescribed, "Do unto other as you would have them do unto you", even if it has to be enforced by law.

I don't think people are ready for that yet. However, I am essentially of the same opinion with gay marriage. I don't think it should be anyones business if consenting adults love each other and want to enter into a contractual relationship such as marriage. I suppose with polygamy it could also help regulate some of the wackos who are trying to get a second or third wife who is like 16.
