No, it's not rude to take snapshots of strangers on the street. Federal Law states that citizens have "no reasonable expectation of privacy" when in a public area. It is not infringing on their rights to take their photo.

However, if you were to use this for public/published/profitable use, then you need their permission to legally show the images to anyone. That's the only time when rude or not matters.

Good luck!

Yes, it is EXTREMELY rude. Why would you want pictures of people that you don't know? People end up with enough pictures in boxes of their own family that they never do anything with. If you are taking pics for a publication you cannot publish without their permission.

One has to wonder why someone would do that! Once I took my son to the park to play and a photo student asked me if he could take a photo of me and I said yes. People will be less likely to have a problem with it if you explain why....

Well if you are just taking photos of the people, then its an invasion of privacy. But if your taking a photo of a building, like your on vacation and a stranger walks in the way, then no.

I wouldn't say it's rude, I just don't think it is something you want them seeing you do. I wouldn't mind but I know there are many people out there that would.Just pretend you are trying to get a better signal on cellphone, then snap!

Not if you wear a dark suit and mirrored sunglasses. You have to dress appropriately, in order to instill just the right balance of paranoia, without inducing anger.

Yes, and if you publish them or show them online and they find out, they could sue you. It's not only rude, it's a violation of their privacy. If you don't get permission, it's against the law. Thank you.
