It is about down to my mid back, somedays its wavy, but never curly. I don't want to use a curling iron, because it's really bad for my hair, and on top of that, no matter how much hairspray I put on, the curls go straight within 30 minutes. SO, I tried braiding my hair while it's wet, and letting it dry, and it came out super wavy, but not curly, does anyone know any really good braids I can try that will make it curly. My hair is suuper thick and dark dark brown. I did three braids and it still wasn't good.. what should I do ? I really want curly hair.

curling irons are not that bad for your hair. i straighten my hair everyday almost. if you're really that worried they sell various products to help protect your hair during heat styling.
try a ceramic spiral curler. for some reason a spiral works much better than a regular curling iron. then use hair spray to hold if it still wont stay in.
i know so many girls who say they couldn't curl their hair before a spiral curler.

Have you ever tried rag curlers, or regular curlers you can buy?
For rag curlers, you wind your hair around a piece of cloth, then tie it, and take it out when it dries.

Go to a professional and let them roller set it.
