If not divinely inspired, then why don't you accept the texts they left out as the word of god?

The compilers of the Bible (that's capital B) were politically and personally motivated when they chose which books to include, which to exclude, and which of the included to edit.

History is written by man and therefore is subject to the writer's personal bias. To take recorded history as 100% fact is to be mistaken.

Hi Meat,

Another very good question. We could get into a interesting discussion about the books that were excluded and why, but that is not really at the cruxt of the question is it.

They were excluded, and no not all inspired writings concerning the word God were included in the compilation of the Bible (in any of its versions.

We could even get into a interesting converstaion about the reference to not add to or take from the written word, course then we would have to discuss which reference and what about all the other stuff after it. but that is not the cruxt of the question either. The question is were they inspired. In compiling the bible from the records as they exsisted prior to it's compilation.

I think they were well intentioned for the most part in the initial effort. of compilation and translation. I think they were as well educatioed as could be for their time. I would like to think that there was some guidance aiding in the monumental task that was at hand, but were they inspired?

Were they inspired like those who authored the orrigional texts or coveyed the orriginal stories as it were? Were they told by God what to include and what to exclude, how to translate accuratly the texts for our use and understanding? Saddly I would have to say no. Infact evidences would show that while those who did the actual translation and compolatoin may have been well intentioned, they were at the bequest and control of others who may not have had as wholesome designs.

I believe the bible to be the word of God in so far as it is translated correctly and in the orriginal form that it was intended before the designs of man.

As for the other wittings that were excluded from various versions, I have read many of them that are availible in some form or another, some are not known of their content. SOme are in large part genealological in content, some are very duplicative of those contained in the Bible, some are so weak thruugh mis translation that is even more difficult in places to decifer the intent than those of the Bible.

Like the Bible, I believe those writtings that were inspired of God to be His word as far as they are translated correctly and are unalterd by the designs of men. Why would I not? Like the Bible, they must be approached with an open and willing heart, studing to understand the intent of the author in his time and circumstance to gain the intent of his words, then taking that assumption before God for confirmation. I am human, I don't always get it right, but upon confirmation, I accept, as truth, those things that I have come to know.

That does include works beyond the Bible compilation.
