The answer to your question will vary widely depending upon the specific bacterium or fungus. Many bacteria will grow quite well given minerals, a source of nitrogen and a source of carbon. Other bacteria have additional specific growth requirements for a specific vitamin or other compound.

If you just want to grow different fungi and bacteria, any number of different media are commercially available or can be made quite easily. For bacteria a common medium is "Nutrient agar", or "Tryptic soy agar". For fungi, media known as "Tomato agar" or "potato dextrose agar" are commonly used.
