How do I just make salmon fillets? No other ingredients or seasonings... just the salmon. There is NOTHING on the internet that just mentions making PLAIN salmon. Please help!

There are several ways, all very simple.

Poach: In a pan add enough water to float the fillet and simmer it for 10 15 minutes till the fillets start to break apart.

Saute: You will need a bit of oil or butter for this. Melt in a pan over medium heat and add salmon cooking on each side 5-8 minutes. You can cover the pan to speed it up.

Broil: Place salmon under broiler and cook on each side 5-8 minutes. Watch it carefully to get the right distance from the heat. You do not want to burn salmon ever.

BBQ. (This is great) Over medium charcoal or gas place the fillet on the grill and cook 4-8 minutes per side.

Cooking times vary, and depend on thickness and heat. You just need to watch it carefully. Start with 5 minutes per side and check by flaking with a fork after a total of 8 minutes or so. Never overcook salmon. A little pinkness in the center is much better than having it too dry.

The fatter fillets work best for broiling or BBQ. King, Atlantic, etc. Leaner fillets like sockeye need to be watched very carefully, as they can dry out very quickly if overcooked or cooked too hot.

Enjoy!!

:) That's because these sites contain recipes rather than just basic cooking instructions.

You can boil, bake, or grill a salmon filet. (You can also fry it, but that's too much work for what you get.)

Baking is probably easiest. Place the filet in foil wrap, and place in a 350 degree F oven. Depending on the size of the fillet it could take anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes.

You can tell the filet is done when the flesh is white and the fish just barely separates. Salmon can be served anywhere from raw to solid white. The most common doneness is just slightly pink.

2-4 Salmon fillets
1/2 cup white wine
1/2 cup water
A few thin slices of yellow onion
A sprinkle of dill

Put wine, water, dill, and onions in a saute pan, and bring to a simmer on medium heat. Place salmon fillets, skin-side down on the pan. Cover. Cook 5 minutes or to desired done-ness. Do not overcook

I think it's easy to just throw it in the oven in a glass pan at maybe 350 for about 15 minutes. I really have no idea how long - BUT - what you need to know is what you're looking for - in a fillet, you're looking for that white stuff (the fat) to start seeping out, and for the flesh to flake cleanly when you drag a fork over it. If the flesh just cuts, rather than coming off in clumps, you're underdone. If it looks dry, probably overdone. I always put either a few pats of butter/margarine or some pesto (basil/olive oil/garlic) on top before cooking.

Assuming that you don't have to fillet the salmon yourself: butter the inside of some cooking foil, wrap each fillet in the foil, cook in a moderate over for 20-25 minutes depending on thickness. Works perfectly.

Steam them in 1/4 cup of water until the color turns or bake them for 15-20 minutes at 350.

If they are wild salmon fillets (or wild caught), you won't need to add anything to them since the flavor is very strong.

If the are farm raised, dump a LOT of sauce on them since they have no flavor.

Just fry it in a pan with oil or butter. Fry until golden on each side. I think the last time I fryed it, it took about 8 minutes per side. Depends on how big the piece is and how well you like it cooked. Its that simple. If you want a really tasty way to cook it buy a bottle of strawberry wine and bake it with the wine poured over it. It burns off the alcohol but leaves a wonderful flavor. Good Luck and happy cooking.

You can just plain bake them in the oven at 350 degrees for 15 - 20 minutes, grill them on a grill pan or outdoor grill over medium high heat for 6 minutes a side, broil them under low broiler for 5 - 6 minutes per side.

Those are just a few ways. You can steam them with parchment paper if you have parchment.
