I purchased a new wok that needed to be pre seasoned. The directions we not very clear and I left a puddle of oil in the bottom of the wok. Before I knew it, the bottom had turned a shinny black. My understanding is that it will turn back with time, not within 10 minutes. Should I try to scrub this of and re season, or is this a good season base?

How long did you leave the oil sit.

Well here is how I seasoned my wok.

Wet a paper towel with oil and wiped the entire inside of the wok.

then heated over high heat.

wiped again when it was hot.

Let cool.

Wiped with oil again.

then used it the following evening and nothing stuck to it.

Only use enoiugh oil to coat lightly. never let it pool.

Also I do not use soap on my wok. When it is hot after cooking i put water in the get it clean then wipe out with a damp cloth.
