I'm sorry to be a smart blank here but it was to funny. You can't heal a tongue ring, only the tongue:) sorry had to. OK if you just got it done, the general time is one week for it to heal. It will hurt for at least that length of time. No particular thing helped when I got mine done, I did not eat much until the swelling went down, by then I was starved. Also make sure to keep it clean, don't take it out to soon as It will heal over very quickly, few hours or over night. After you've had it in 4 months or so take it out and put it in peroxide to clean. Make sure you use mouthwash alot in the beginning to kill any germs. I hope the pain goes away soon for you.

Tongue rings heal really quick, just keep using your listerine. BUT i was just informed yesterday that I may need a Skin graft. I got my tongue peirced 6 years ago, and I know have really bad gum recession. I took it out last night, but I'm really scared about having a skin graft, cuz it hurts. Just a heads up...Tongue rings are NOT WORTH THE RISK!!

Make sure you gargle with sea salt and warm water. Alot of tattoo/body piercing shops will send you home with sea salt after the procedure. If they did not do this, I would recommend, either calling them or buying some. Mix about a teaspoon into 8oz of warm water and "swish" with it 3-4 times a day. Its not like table salt so it doesn't burn/sting, but rather soothes.
Also, make sure after Everything you eat or drink, you are rinsing your mouth out with an anti-bacterial mouth wash, such as Listerine.
These are the instructions that I was given when I had my piercing and it was feeling better in 2-3 days.
Good Luck ;)

Not to get it pierced in the first place. If it's pierced, don't eat. The mouth is full of bacteria, and a piercing is a great way to get an infection.
