One of the clearest verses in bible:

Luk 18:18 ¶ And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

Luk 18:19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none [is] good, save one, [that is], God.

Yet Christians claim that Jesus was referring to his divinity !!!!!!!!

Jesus may or may not have been referring to his divinity here; this verse can be interpreted 2 ways:
1. That Jesus is saying he is less then God
or
2. (my belief) that he was asking WHY the ruler called him good; was it because he knew Jesus was a renowned teacher or that he knew Jesus was God incarnate?

Either way, it is clear from many statements that Jesus made that he believed he was the son of God. So do I.

If your preconcieved ideas are such that you do not want to accept Jesus as God, then of course you will interpret this as you have. Yet, just read it a little differently, putting emphasis on different words- for example, read it putting emphasis on thou (or you in later translations), then read it again, emphasising me, then again emphasising good.

It can be read to understand:
Why are you calling me good? You know that there is none good but God, are you calling me good because you believe that I am God?

That was the crux of the problem, wasn't it? The young man's god was wealth- not God.

OK, so what do you make of John 14, then? If you are looking for a serious answer, you can read the article at the link below. If not, then I refuse to waste my time on a blasphemer like you who is simply trying to mock his God.

-----------------------------------------
...After 3 years with his disciples we read how one of them
asks Jesus and wants to be "shown the Father (God)".

Jesus answered, "Don't you know me, Philip, even after
I have been among you such a long time?
Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. ...
Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the
Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the
miracles themselves." (John 14:10-11).

You got it WRONG again. In this verse Jesus was neither affrming or denying His divinity. In fact His divinity wasn't even the issue!

The ruler addressed Jesus as "Good" whereas Jesus replied that only God is "Good". Jesus merely asked the man WHY he addressed Jesus as "good". Jesus did not say "Please don't call me good because only God is good."

Bottom line: It's not that we accept false interpretation, it's that YOU don't understand the Scriptures and neither are you seeking understanding.

It's a lack of understanding.

Now, if you question His divinity, let me give you John 8:53-59
53Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are?"

54Jesus replied, "If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. 55Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and keep his word. 56Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad."

57"You are not yet fifty years old," the Jews said to him, "and you have seen Abraham!"

58"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" 59At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.

People are desperate for meaning and this desperation allows a great majority of them to be manipulated and controlled. If I tell you that a banana is blue you will be quick to tell me it is not that it is yellow. But if every week when I see you I tell you it is blue and 200 people are in the room and you see them accepting this in time you will also accept it as the truth.

Jesus is God however, you forget that- Jesus was man at this time- even though he was still sinless he still became man and experienced what we do- as in temptation and trials. He gave glory to God- even though He is God- He still gave glory to God- hard to understand but not hard to interpret. Jesus always gave God the glory.

Because Jesus is part of the trinity that makes up God, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Jesus was telling him that He(Jesus) is not good by Himself but as part of God.

Because not all christians are perfect and not all have studied everything. And even you have probably accepted some false interpretations of scriptures so don't be so hard on everybody.
