I had someone (not a professional tax preparer) do my taxes while I was in college and I do not believe they ever included my education expenses because I never provided them with my 1098T form. I do not have any of my W-2's for these years or the actual return that was filed. Can I obtain a copy from some where?

If you are sure that your W-2 information was entered correctly on the original return, you do not need copies of your W-2s--just get the information from your original tax return.

You can get either a transcript of your return or copies of your actual returns from the IRS. The link below provides more information on how to get this information.

When you have it, you will need to prepare a Form 1040X with corrected forms to support it. The second link below is to 1040X instructions.

To amend returns, you just need form 1040X - you can download at irs.gov. You'll just show changes, and don't have to send in your W-2 copies. Dig out your copies of your old returns, and download the forms for those years from irs.gov and make the changes - it'll be easier to do the 1040X's if you have copies of the original and the corrected return in front of you.

You can get transcripts of your old returns for free from the IRS. That should be plenty for what you need. If you want actual copies, it costs $39 each.
