It sounds odd, but choose how you deal with a situation. At first you have to literally stop and say.... how do I want to respond to this.... take your time.... look at the ways you could deal with it... and then choose. Eventually you will get to a point where it happens automatically. Just remember to act.... not react. You are in control of yourself. No one can make you angry unless you allow them to. You get to decide how you feel. You choose. You are the one with the power to make that decision. Don't allow other influences to control you. You have the power over yourself.

Join the club!I treat a lot of patients with this problem including myself. I am an alternative medicinal therapist and I may be able to help. For general depression/anger & Stress = St Johns Wort-Vervain-Valerian-Chamomile and Passion Flower teas all of these have a calming effect but you must be patient they are not an overnight cures they need time to get into the system. None of these have any side effects or harm you in any way. The 'teas' usualy work straight away. Drink as many cups of chamomile as you like. At night, to help calm and relax you take Valerian capsules. You can also have Massage Therapy, my patients swear by this treatment, so if you can afford it have it. I charge between 10 & £20 per hour. G Jones(BSYA)

I use a mental filing system. An "In" and "out" box. Anger comes and goes, just like every other emotion. When you are becoming angry, place it in the "in" box, something to be dealt with, but not necessarily at that moment. You have more important things to deal with at that moment, such as the situation that is bringing anger. Let the anger be separate from the issue. Then, once the situation is under control, take the anger and put it in the "out" box. It is only an emotion, like a piece of paper that must be handled, and then discarded. If you detach yourself from it, you can see that it may come, but does not have to be a part of the situation, or a part of the solution. You decide what to do with the anger, by placing it somewhere else, reduce the importance of it.

Usually, with a bat or pan of some sorts.
My system is a 3 part system:
1) Build up all of your anger from your job, home life, etc. etc. in your head. Build it up until it feels like you're going to explode.....then build it up for 3 more days after that.
2) Put your family into the car and go for a drive.
3) Then, at the slightest misstep of one of your family members, veer the car off of a bridge.

This may sound cheesy, but it works for me. When I feel like I'm going to become extremely upset, I stop. Dead in my tracks. I keep my mouth shut and I take a really deep breath. (or two). I allow myself to say all the curse words and negative things in my head...then I calmly deal with the real issue.
This has prevented many fights.
Good luck! 8-)
