Some guy just called my work and I was lucky enough to answer the phone. He was all annoyed that someone didn't call him back. He was all like "Don't you know who I am?" I wanted to say "No buddy, I don't know who you are and I don't care!!!!" Why would anyone think they are so much better than everyone else? I have no tolerance for arrogance.

as for the why of it, i don't know....but i totally understand where you're coming from......
i was working as a hairstylist and the owner (also a stylist) was out sick....i called all her clients to let them know so they could reschedule, but apparently this particular woman didn't get the message....anyways i'm doing my own clients hair and in comes "jane" (who happens to be a "trophy wife" of a wealthy businessman in town)...i say "oh, jane, i'm so sorry you didn't get my message but "lily" is out sick, can i make a new appt. for you?"....jane then makes a bunch of hints that i should quit doing my clients hair and do her hair instead....i very politely re-iterated that she'd have to come back....and she seemed totally shocked that i wasn't going to do her hair.......jane is actually a nice woman, but it just cracks me up how some people feel so entitled....

I worked in a hospital, and we had several doctors that would say that, when calling our department. The only way to stop these jerks in their tracks is by putting them in their place. You say, "Of course I know who you are. EVERYBODY knows who you are". And then giggle. If there is one thing they can't stand, it's the idea that someone is laughing at them. Arrogance is born of doubt. Trust me, it works.

It's simply called arrogance. No one is better than anyone else. Thank you and GOD bless.

It goes back to how they were raised. Their parents probably put them up on a pedestal and expect everyone else to do the same. Parents need to teach their kids that the world does not revolve around them.

i'm with you- i hate that! i would have said "I'm sorry i don't. Do you know who I am?" which throws them off and they say something stupid like "well, no" and you kindly introduce yourself and then politely say that you'll forward the call to whomever they wanted to talk to in the first place. just because someone else didn't return their call does not mean they should throw attitude at you~ but don't throw attitude back at them- its not worth it.
