Hill's food is low quality food. It uses by-product meat (30%) and two corn products (60%). Neither cats nor kittens are meant to eat that stuff - the corn is difficult to digest.
Get Solid Gold, Natural Balance, Felidae, Blue etc. Those products are wholesome human-grade meat (60%) and only 30% filler such as brown rice, millet, oat or pea - more wholesome and digestible for the kitten.
Switch foods gradually. Go to my icon and click for a recipe for switching dry foods. That should eliminate the unnecessary gas and be better for the kitten's overall health.

Yeah, cats can do that!
Go to the VET! This cat might have a digestive problem you may not know about. it is much better to be safe than sorry. Please check with a vet to see if this is a more serious problem than a BAD smell.
Then, once you get the all clear from the VET, switch foods. Ask your vet what he/she recommends. Some vets have their own line of food or favorite products that they use on their own pets. Also ask friends and family members what they like.
I use Purina and Meow Mix for hair balls for my cats. I mix the two together in the a bowl for them. I also gives my cats one can of food a night. This combinations work well for me. My friend only gives her cat canned food. It seems the dry food gives him gas as well. Some cats just can't handle the chemicals contained in these products. They do have some dry food that is all organic. you can buy these in health food stores.
Hill science is not the greatest food. I tried it on my cats a while back. it made them very sick and they eat MEOW MIX. This is considered the "junk food" for cats.
Go to the Vet and make sure all is well first.

Hi Pat!
Every cat is different. Some do fine on Hill's, and some don't. Try switching to a different food, as others have suggested. Some cats don't handle corn or soybean ingredients in cat foods well and have horrible gas and diarrhea. If you switch them to a product that doesn't contain these fillers, both you and the cat will be pleased.

Try slowly changing his food, and check with your vet - all that gas isn't normal, and probably means he's having some tummy troubles. Good luck with your "shelter kitty", both of mine have been adopted from shelters!

My cat does this. You need to make sure that you get a digestive formula for the kitty to eat.
