My Fiancee and I have just brought a new car and will pick it up on March 1st when the new 07 reg will be out... Can anyone tell me what the two letters are for different areas, we have brought our car from Watford in Herfordshire. So i.e LS is for london etc...... GN for Kent. can any one help?

i cant help you with that but we bought a vauxhall zafira and its plate is ht51 and we live in southampton hampshire

The general areas are given by the first letter. The second letter gives the area of the Taxation Office. So if you are closest to Wimbledon it will be LA LB LC LD LE LF LG LH LJ

If you are closest to Stanmore, LK LL LM LN LO LP LR LS LT

Or finally Sidcup then, LU LV LW LX LY.

Here in hampshire (H) cars will be registered from either Portsmouth or Bournmouth. The Isle of Wight has HW.

Kent has G for 'Garden of England' and K for Luton and Northampton.

I live in the North of England and wanted a new car. Believe me I travelled to Crayford in Kent to get a deal £2000 cheaper than locally and my two letter Registration is LV - Often thought to be Liverpool! Get in touch with the DVLA who have a list of all Registration marks.
