While you cannot drive a Jeep in the same manner that you would a sports car, if you pay attention to what you are doing and drive it in the manner for which it was designed, you will have no problems with the Jeep. The Grand Cherokee is a great vehicle. Just don't try to take corners like you were in a Corvette or a Viper.
The same can be said about any SUV, pickup, or van, and some wagons.

My 1988 was not prone to tipping. But I have driven one 4 X 4 or another since about 1975. My Cherokee handled fine on freeway, surface streets or mountain trails. A lot better than the 1972 Blazer I had.

Yes they are top heavy, but so is a truck, and a mini van. I've driven jeeps for many years, and have never wrecked or rolled one. You just do not drive it like a sports car and you won't have to worry about it being top heavy. I even offroad with mine and don't have any problems with it being top heavy. If you are worried about it being top heavy buy a mini cooper.

Its an SUV they are all prone to roll over. Just don't drive it like a race car and you should be able to keep all the tires on the road.

Nearly ALL SUVs are going to be top heavy. Just drive sensibly and no worries.

Keep in mind that your purchasing a light truck, which will have a higher center of gravity than a car. Just drive accordingly and you'll be fine.

Not as much as many 4 x 4s although they still carry the warning about cornering at high speed

not so much anymore. theyare more wide now. they still have some body lean. but remember it is a sport utility and not a race car. slow down when cornering.
