First of all, be yourself, have fun, don't make it like an inquisition. But you are going to talk about each other so ask about their family, what they are interested in, what sports they may or may not like. Let the other person talk, if they ask about you, talk, let them get to know you as well. Ask what they like to do on free time, even if it sounds a little boring, you never know what may strike your heart...

Find out what their dreams and aspirations are. You could ask "Where do you see yourself in 5 years? How about in 10 years? 40 years?" If you are driven and their answer is "I don't know" then you probably aren't compatible. If you're in high school or younger, ask them if they plan to go to college and what they would study, if you're older ask them about their career goals and if they would ever go back to school. Ask them how they feel about children, what they like to do for fun, what one place would make for an amazing vacation in their mind, etc.
