Is my friend waiting for this guy to come around and date her?

She seems really confused because this guy keeps wanting to his feelings to her. She keeps accepting, and he keeps saying that he likes her a lot but thinks they should be friends. He thinks they have "different paths in life". She tells me and everyone that she does not like him, but I caught her playing footsie and talking to him about marriage beliefs and such. Is she waiting for him or something? I cannot help her unless I know what is going on!

It sounds to me like there's some serious double-reverse hard-to-get going on here. I don't think you need to help her at all.
