is it weird that my boyfriend gets mad at me for carrying all 4 of the bags of grocries into the house? he says...how is that supposed to make me feel watching you carry all of the bags? i only grab them out of habit! i'm 20 and we have been goign out for about 3 months...he also got mad at me because i wanted a starbucks coffee and i charged it...he said..."why couldn't you just ask me for the $5...you buy me stuff all the time but i can't ever buy you anything?" then i say..."it's your money and i don't feel comfortible spending it" then he says "exactily...it's my money and if i want to spend it by giving it to you then that's how i want to spend it"...is this normal behavior? am i just thinking about this too much?

The reason he is doing this is he feel immasuclated, its a caveman thing we all have and it is because we need to feel like the provider, and every guy has it, we carry the heavy bags, we pay for dinner now and again, we kill the spiders in the bathtub, its what we are designed for and the best thing to do is just let him now and again, so you are both happy.

I completely understand ... I work full time and so does my man ... when we go out he's always offering and paying for the bill ... when we first started seeing each other I couldn't handle it ... he wouldn't let me pay for anything ... plus I was a single mom so let me tell you ... I can carry 4 bags on each hand, my purse, and a gallon of milk up two flights of stairs ... on my own ... lol ... it's crazy but some day you'll let go of your independence - some what and let the boy spoil you for a little while .. nothing wrong as long as neither of you take advantage of each person's income ... you pay - he pays ... if my boyfriend pays one night I'll pay the next night ... it works out ... he sounds very normal to me ... just a nice guy looking out for his lady ... although he should be offering before you pay - if he really wants to pay ... !

I had a bf like that. It's annoying. You have to have an honest sit down conversation and explain to him that you have your own money and you appreciate him wanting to spend his on you but if you need help that's one thing but if your okay financially you can take care of yourself. He is trying to be a good bf. My ex was italian so I don't find it strange. But then, I never had to "ask" for him to pick up bags if he saw me with them he would either pick them up or if I was carrying them he would take them from me. When we would go someplace like Starbucks he would ask me what I wanted then find me a seat then get in line, order and pay. At first I felt weird, but I got used to it because that was his way of showing me that he cared. I would and did not ever ask him for anything and you shouldn't either. If he truly wanted to do it (pay) he would have just done it, not waited for you to ask him. That's a trap, don't fall for it.

I think if he is willing to buy you things then let him. You are very lucky if you have a guy like that. I've been dating my boyfriend for 3 years and he still pays for most of everything and I love it. Also, I think it's wonderful he wants to carry in the bags for you. You sound like you have a winner!!

Give this man a chance to be the gentleman that he is . He cares for you so dont try to take wind of his sails. Its's no problem refusing sometimes but please allow him to do the little things for you that he enjoys doing. You in turn can buy him a coffe or other treat at some other time . So dont let that worry u .

that's not really normal but he is probably just trying to show you how much he loves you with his money cause he doesn't know how else to do it. it probably makes him feel more manly
