It really depends on the spouse how to say something like this. Is your spouse noticing any weight gain? Have they joked about it, or do they just ignore it? One idea is to maybe start w/ I love you and then just say I'm concerned about your health. Don't say anything about I don't think you're sexy or anything. Just focus on the health risks of being overweight. And please be as soft spoken as possible. Don't come to them w/ any brochures, cards, or doctors numbers. Say what you have to say and let the decision be their own. Support them if they have decided to do something about it. You can't make anyone do anything, so if they say "I'm fine". Say ok, I just wanted to let you know how I was feeling. Then, you've got another Yahoo! I would be direct yet sensitive and show empathy. Make a list of some major health risks associated with being over weight, talk about the physical and emotional benefits of exercise and proper nutrition. Approach it from " I think we would benefit greatly by keeping ourselves in better condition " - lump yourself in there even if you're already in good shape, there's always room for improvement. Present it as a plan to improve both of your relationships with each other as well as your overall quality of life.

one of the best ways i know to help your spouse lose weight is to change the way you eat. if you are the main cook, then try choosing healthier foods..and cook less of it. if youre not the main cook, maybe suggest some different recipes youd like to try. excersise is also very important to maintain a healthy weight. instead of staying home and watching tv..ask them to go on a walk with you or something like that.

Try coming at the issue from a health perspective. Tell them that you want them to be around for a long time and that losing weight could help they stay around longer.

don't tell .... just start bringing home healthy stuff to eat and maybe a few work out movies or a membership for a gym for the 2 of u.... if ur spouse see u doing it then maybe they will want to do it with u.
and no feelings get hurt!

We should go out after dinner in the spring and take a long walk
What can I make you that youll like for dinner,lunch etc
Instead of Ice Cream lets have some yogurt or fruit

Lead by example! If you are working out and eating healthy, she/he will eventually follow.

Chances are your spouse already knows that they need to lose weight. You pointing out to them WILL NOT help!

Instead you should ask her/him to take a walk with you, ride bikes together, go hiking, join a gym, etc.....

well there is a few ways to do this one way is to go the gym yourself and work out and get stronger and then one day tell you spouse that you want to do an activity together and that u would love for him/her to join you while working out
