No religion on the face of this planet has any real connection to, or understanding of, God.

It should have stopped many centuries ago. People who indulge in that kind of thinking and destruction are people who are not spiritual (since the fact of existence would alone make great love in a spirtual person) but are using any excuse they can find to express and savor the animal part of their psyches instead of growing above them. Using God as an excuse is very easy for them, because if they can convince themselves that the highest personality in the universe demands such destruction then they are not being bad but are actually pleasing God and even more loved by God, like how jealous little children fight for their mothers' attention and love.

While I agree - I personally don't believe in God - I think rather than the beliefs themselves, it is the people who denigrate the beliefs or lifestyles of others who cause the wars and problems.

You may believe the idea of God is a fairytale - and I may agree but that doesn't give us the right to cause conflict due to this - let people believe what they wish as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else - if everyone did that there would be no war or death on the grounds of religion and faith.

Yes!!!!! I recommend a few good books on the subject.

Moderate Muslims in Europe
For many Europeans, the question of moderate Muslims has been a source of frustration. Many journalists are urging moderates to speak up and take sides; but they don’t do so very much. Many Muslims can’t find the courage and the words—within their religious context—to get to the problem that confronts Islam in the modern societies they now live in.

That is: how does a belief system founded, IN PART, on conquest, and preaching a virtual identity between religious and political power, live in a free, plural, and secular oriented society? Instead of answering this, moderate Muslims and liberals in Europe ask for special laws to silence them.

Primates have no god, yet fight, have battles, are territorial and are doing no where near as well as us. Religions serve to rationalize conflicts that would simply be fought on/under different pretexts. Geniuses made A bombs knowing themselves to be gods, the problems of animal/human conflict goe far deeper than simpletons believing anything particular. They aren't the ones giving the orders anyway!

"Idiots all over the world are killing people in his name, has anyone met him?" ... I have, He came to me in my darkest hour, and resides within my heart.

"why are so many people believing in fairy stories?, it makes no sense whatsoever" ... I don't know why anyone believes a fairy story, but God isn't a fairy story.

"Dont get me wrong, it is a nice idea that a " god " exists, but try to be practical, it is nonsense" ... Sorry you feel that way, it must be awful to be one of those who have not yet met Him and understands.

"people are dying in " god's " name..........isnt it time it stopped?" ... Would you die for your beliefs? I would.

Personally, I'm atheist. People who kill in God's name (or anyone else's, for that matter) are idiots. I'm fine with religion and all, but people shouldn't use it as an excuse for their actions.

Somewhat unrelated, it annoys me how some religious people try to impose their religion on those who do not follow religion.

G-d is just the reason. If there were no G-d people would be fighting because of the different hair or skin color, or the language they speak. Remember good old tribal days, when there was no religious wars? They fought for many other things.

Actually God, if he or she exists is one smart dude. Consider this:

--Runs the biggest corporation in the universe. Trillions of dollars are collected in His name
--Never shows up for any meetings
--Has the largest belief system built around Him
--No one has ever seen, talked , or listened to Him
--He delegates EVERYTHING---revenue building, expenses, charities, scandals, forgiveness
--Does not take a dime in salary
--Lets his minions solve their own problems.
--Gives different types of "advice" to different subordinates. Tells Christians that anyone who does not follow Christ will go to hell. Tells Muslims to kill anyone who does not obey Mohammed. Tells Hindus and Jews, keep on living in peace and turning the other cheek.

One smart dude!!

People kill and die in the name of money. Does Money exist? Does the fact that people kill and/or die in the name of money have any influence on whether money exists?

People will kill for lots of reasons. That does not mean the reason is to blame...the person must always take responsibility for his own actions.

And yes, personally I would love it if nobody ever again said they were murdering in the name of the one who said "Thou shalt not murder."
