i've had a "knot" in my upper back/shoulder area for over 2 months now....sometimes the pain lessens quite a bit, but then it just comes back full force....
what's causing it, and how do i "treat" it??

Stretching is key. Also try massage therapy. Just remember to drink lots of water after-wards to flush out the toxins released. If you don't they they remain in your system and the knot will come back full force. I know I have a horrible back.
Good luck.

try taking hot baths/showers
if you have a massager put it on your back
massage chairs also help or you can get one of those massage pads that
go on your chair.
or you could simply get someone to give you a back massage.
thats only for the pain though.
because you've had it for over 2 months, I would see a doctor
Good luck.

You almost certainly have a rib out of place where it meets the vertebra. Sometimes a good back massage can slip it back in place. If not, go see a chiropractor.

You might have a pulled muscle. Go see your doctor, he might be able to give you a muscle relaxer to help with the pain. Going to a chiropractor wouldn't hurt either, but I'd wait until you talk to your doctor.

Sounds like muscle spasms. Try using a heating pad, moist heat treatments, massage, swimming, ibuprofen to help with inflammation.
