I don't know what the rest of your writing has to do with your question, but I'll answer the question.
The answer is some of it does, some of it doesn't. I personally chose to not listen to the popular rock / rap / pop / hip hop... when I was in 8th grade. I thought it was getting filthy (this was around 1990) I later picked up country music in the mid 90's. I found that it was much cleaner lyrics , and it actually had a melody that I could sing along with. Today I listen to worship music mostly, but I still have a lot of country.
There are a lot of songs that are Christian in their bent. They speak of the love of Christ, the will of God, our roles as parents to raise Godly children.... I have come across many of these songs. Yes, there are still some bad ones, and unfortunately there are more and more of the bad kind with this new breed of country songs coming out lately.
I like that these artists don't need to label themselves as "christian artists" , they just sing from their heart. They sing about life, and they sing about their Christian walk. That's how it should be.
I've always been disillusioned with Christian artists who think they're supposed to put out a product that sounds like the world to attract people to God. I don't think it works like that. Why would a sheep dress up like a wolf?? Wolves want sheep, not other wolves. An artist who wants to glorify God should go to God for inspiration and as the child of the Creator, create something! Quit copying the world. I have more respect for these country stars that just tell it like it is than the ones who are trying to be like the world, with christian lyrics.

In the Bible, God preserved 150 songs in the book of Psalms, plus several more scattered throughout the Old and New Testament. Note that NONE of those songs have the music preserved. All that God preserved was the lyrics.
The STYLE of music is not important. Otherwise God would have preserved (or at least given guidelines) about what style of music is acceptable. What is important are the LYRICS and the INTEND of the songs. All the songs he preserved are design to glorify, praise and exault Him.
If you look at the Psalms, you will find that before the first verse, some of them have musical notations about how the song was to be played. There are fast ones, slow ones, loud ones, happy ones, sad ones, multi-instrument ones, choral ones, and more. So many styles of music were encouraged.
So God put the emphasis not on the style (gospel, rock, hymn, jazz, country, etc) but on the content and intent of the song.

Actually some of it does. Have you heard "Believe" by Brooks and Dunn or "Jesus Take The Wheel" by Carrie Underwood? Josh Turner is another country singer who puts God into some of his songs. Pay attention to the lyrics and turn away from what doesn't sound worthy. Some are just about love and family and there's nothing wrong with that. I can't speak for rap at all though. There were so many disgusting rap and hip hop songs that it is not allowed at all in my home. It's easier that way. Besides, I just don't like it.
May God Bless you.

Rap doesn't bring glory to anyone except people who want to be rock stars but can't play music or sing. They get famous for talking thru bad music, if you can even call it music.
As for rock or country, country gives me a headache, but it is technically music, and if I didn't listen to rock, well, that would just be boring. I've heard some great rock and roll that had great spiritual messages, so I personally do not think listening to rock and roll should be something born agains shouldn't do. I'm guessing its the same for country, have actually heard some that didn't give me a headache and make we want to cry in my beer right along with them. I think the concept of born agains not beling allowed to listen to music is just dumb. Music has never led be from Christ, though I will admit that some has led be closer to Him.

Uh, your header has nothing to do with you question.
I agree with the part that you say that people need to be born again, but where are the Bible verses that says that God hates certain types of music? You seemed to leave those passages out for some reason (probably because there are none).
Don't go around trying to enslave people to the false traditions & commandments of men (Colossians 2:8-23; Mark 7:1-23).

Hello Rodney,
I don't think God wants we as Christian to stop living, it is the christian whom he would love to see living life and living it more abundantly.
Sure there is certain kind of music that we should not allow in our heads, however all secular music is not bad music. Please don't stop living because you gave your heart to Jesus.
He wouldn't want you to backslide back into sin because you miss something of the world some much. Rodney- allow God to purge you, don't try to purge yourself- prayer and ask God to purge you from all unrighteousness and he will do it, and do a better job then you could and you want feel like you are giving up everything.
I am speaking from experience, because I backslided and almost lost my life, and the reason I backslid was because I was trying to do things myself instead of allowing God to do, and know one informed me of how I was suppose to let go and let god.
In Christ!

Do you think that all gospel music glorifies God? Then you have another thing coming. My music is 99.9 % gospel but I choose them carefully because all gospel music are not anointed. But I will listen to non-christian song, if the lyric is good.

I think it really depends on the lyrics. I listen to Christian rock, and the lyrics are awesome. I don't think the type of music matters, its all in the lyrics.
