I think it means the church is failing to teach them all they need to know to be able to be surrounded by different teachings and still know why they believe what they do. I am taking a class right now on a literal geneisis and the importance of teaching why the Christian church believes in creation and not evolution. We have faith that allows us to believe in the bible, but we need to know the science that supports it in order to be able to defend our faith in the real world.

I'm not sure I believe it ... seems a little over the top for me. I'd wonder what high schools they were talkign about. I'd wonder what sort of "faith" these kids had that was denied. Perhaps they didn't have any real faith to deny.

Sounds a bit bogus.

I think it shows that the various faiths just aren't very convincing.

Of course some eventually go back, but I think it is difficult to accept faith having received a quality high school education these days. There are just so many more convincing facts that we know about the world that do not support religion.

It says nothing. Did they deny their faith or organized religion? Did they ever go back to that faith/church? I know what you're trying to say. You think if someone believes in God they must be uneducated or just plain stupid. To deny the existence of God is a sign of intelligence and superior education. Is that about right? It's okay to disagree with someone's beliefs but in the future you may want to use facts or cite your statistics when making your argument.

I find this one more scary:
"According to a 2006 Gallup poll, about 46% of Americans believe in strict creationism, concurring with the statement that "God created man pretty much in his present form at one time within the last 10,000 years," and 36% believe that God guided the process of evolution. Only 13% believe that humans evolved over millions of years, without any supernatural intervention."

Every one of the 12 disciples denied knowing Christ when he was crucified. Only the two Marys showed up at the cross.

I think it's a statistic.. and anyone can use those to make them point to whatever they like.

What are the statistics that state the percentage that return to that faith five years later? Bottom line is, that doesn't do much for me.

One disciple in 12 denied knowing him, and another disciple in turned him in to the authorities. Only 4 disciples had their written accounts accepted into the official holy book.

Perhaps the majority have acquired the sense that the education was supposed to give them. But I question your statistic -- it seems high.
