are you sure? I'll have to check it out, but if so, I think that the angels (who are now in a special kind of torture) slept with human women and therfore scrambled human genetics creating giants were before the flood, and the giants like Goliath (maybe cuz of gigantisism) were caused by normal human mutations.

One theory is that the purpose of the flood was to rid the eath of the nephilim. Nephilim apparently aren't that easy to kill, being half-angelic and all. And no, Noah's family were not nephilim, Noah had a clean bloodline, and it didn't include any abominations, such as nephilim. The Watchers (angels who were suppose to watch out over mankind, not mate with them), messed up big time when they fell for the human women. They taught them not only jewelry making and adornment, but they taught their children, the nephilim, weaponry that the human race wasn't mentally or emotionally advanced enough to learn yet, which is why they had to be disposed of.

The Nephilim were the result of matings between the sons of god and the daughters of man.
When people suggest that the NT son of god got it on with Mary Magdalene, everybody goes apoplectic but, apparently, it was common enough in the OT that the offspring even got a racial or tribal name.
In any case, after the flood, all that was required to create more Nephilim was a new set of interested sons of god and a new set of willing daughters of man.
Aren't myths wonderful? Literally?

no. nephilim are the offspring of angels and humans.
angels dont have to have been on the earth and drowned by god....
Genesis 6:4
4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.
notice the distinction between "sons of God", and "daughters of men".
speaking of nephilim. isnt Jesus a man of renown... a heroe of old.. born of a woman who never had sex with another human...

I think everyone has missed the bigger question here. If Noah's family were the only people left does that mean that God condoned and encouraged incest; and are we not all supposed descendants from Noah. If this were true we would all be perverts having any sexual relationship with anyone since we would be related to each other.

Nephilim is not clearly defined. Those before and after were likely different.
