I have a number of different symptoms, including constant dizziness, severe fatigue, no appetite, and vision changes. My doctor has said that he thinks I have depression. I have been treated for depression before, but I do not FEEL depressed as I was back then. I don't feel sad, don't want to isolate myself. I'm generally a very happy person. I'm willing to take it into consideration, but I really don't think this is what is going on...

After you've been treated for a mental illness, it's very difficult, at least speaking from experience, for a doctor to take you seriously. If you feel he's dismissing your physical concerns, go see someone else. Mentally ill people DO get physically sick.

If you don't feel depressed, then you aren't depressed. Could be the time of year, fact that right now days are short, wintertime blues maybe? or could be that you have a build-up in your ear which can cause dizziness and loss of appetite (this was my problem and they flushed out my ears and now I'm a-ok). And NEVER take a doctor's advice first thing. Always, always, always and always get a second opinion, especially when it comes to something serious like depression.

Exactly what doctor did you speak to? If it was a shrink, then I would believe the doctors opinion. If it was a general practitioner (like the ones you see during a regular physical), I would definetly get a second opinion. Remember, they're not psychologists/psychiatrists, and they'll prescribe you whatever.

I would go back to your dr and tell him what you told us. If he still puts it off, get a second opinion. I don't think that dizziness and vision changes are very common with depression (I didn't experience them) and could point to something serious!

You should see another doctor and get a second opinion. It sounds like you could have a neurological disorder, or possibly fibromyalgia. Don't rely on this one doctor.

Sometimes, our hormonal system goes out of wack, and that could cause all the symptoms you described. Give it a few days and see if you don't feel any better.
