You have a relationship with Satan, your father. I dont mean that as an insult or a "get back at you" attitude, but from a Biblical standpoint - those who are not redeemed are not children of God and are the children of Satan himself.

Sorry about that. It just kind of .... slipped. <>

Reality.......we also have a relationship with our brains and have the ability to think for ourselves and logically examine the world. If society was left up to Christians, we would be back in the dark ages.
Can you actually call it a relationship when you worship some not existent thing (oops....Jesus)? It is not a relationship when you are the one always kissing their butts and stroking them to make sure they are happy with you, etc. I guess maybe it is a relationship if you consider the school bully having a relationship with the weakest kid at school. As long as the weak kid gives the bully his lunch money and tells him he is wonderful all the time and kisses his butt, then the bully will be happy with him. But if that stops then the weak kid gets beat up for all eternity. That is a great relationship you have with Jesus, Goat Boy, Christ, try to avoid the chapped lips from kissing butt that long.
Oh and remember with your relationship with Christ and if someone is abusing and torturing and raping your child, that Jesus is just sitting there watching the whole thing and doing nothing. That certainly is a friend that I would want. Amazingly that on earth we would send him to jail for not attempting to stop the crime, but you worship him and want to be with him. Give me Genghis Khan, at least you knew where he was coming from.

In your reality christians have a relationship with Jesus. In my reality, you have a relationship with a subconscious creation that feeds upon the reward of you believing there's a higher power in control of your existence. So to answer your question, atheists don't have a need for that relationship. Hopefully they use that extra brain power to try and make this world a better place while they are in it.

Christians consort with a dead Palestinian criminal who died like an animal two thousand years ago. His God was a capricious, jealous, murderous nightmare who would have parents murdering children and brothers murdering sisters for extremely minor infractions. If you come to me in person and tell me that you have a relationship with Jesus, I will look upon you as if you have had just confessed to having an affair with Mahmoud Ahmadenijad or Attila the Hun. Your religion is a cultural nightmare you should be embarassed to profess your allegiance to it out loud.
As an atheist, my loyalty and love is to my fellow human beings. My life is not about throwing money at a priest who will either a) spend it paying his lawyers to help him dodge pedophilia charges (if Catholic) or b) spend it buying meth and hiring male prostitutes (if Baptist). My life is about bettering the society that raised me. My life is about the creation of love and the adoration of the accomplishments of man. I would rather bow down and tremble with worship before the Apollo Program than the sort of God who commands you to murder your own children if they do so much as their homework on a Sunday.
My relationships are with real people and my love is with real individuals. My concern is the suffering on this Earth right now. Whether it be the suicidal depression brought on when a gay teenager is expelled from his home by a wrathful Protestant, or when a pre-teen girl in Africa finds out she has HIV because the local Catholic missionary taught her consort that condom use is sinful, there is genuine suffering on this Earth, and it will not go away with just one more prayer or one more eucharist.
That is who my relationship is with. People like you retreat with cowardice to your fairy tales. People like me develop the science that will build a civilization for you and probably save your life some day. You're welcome.

~~~JD ,,, We atheists of a deep spiritual nature follow the message of Buddha, Krishna, Jesus, etc, ,,, that is to "Know Thyself". A transcended ego results in a direct relationship with Self. In this way ALL relationships benefit,,, and the path to Enlightenment is made easier.
I have a relationship with others on this planet. These relationships are real. I require no relationship with a supernatural entity to justify my existance.
