I'm positive that if Barbaro wasn't all roided up like Bonds at a weightlifting competition I believe he wouldn't have shattered his leg. I mean the horse wasn't jumping or being hit with a baseball bat, he was just running in a race. Why is it legal to pump up those horses and not legal to pump up a human who does the same thing-race?

The use of drugs and the amounts of drugs in horses is regulated in horse racing. The drugs that are approved are only supposed to be administered by the track vets. The first and second place horses are drug tested for illegal drugs and high levels of approved drugs. A trainer who gets caught with illegal drugs or high levels of approved drugs are subject to high dollar fines, suspension of license, or even get their license revoked. You don't find that many trainers that abuse the use of drugs in horses. People who use steriods abuse them to the point that they are illegal. Drugs that are performance enhancing drugs are not allowed in horse racing. Horses can have Bute, Lasix and some other drugs are acceptable as long as they are not performance enhancers.

Steroids and other chemicals are regulated in horse racing. Trainers get suspended when they are caught injecting illegal substances or exessive amounts of legal substances into animals.

Because the racing industry is too cowardly to ban it.

The reality is the steriods are widley used in horse racing. Contrary to what some previous answers may lead you to believe.

That may be changing in the future. There is a growing consensus that there must be unifomity between the states on medication rules and that they must be stircter.

Don't hold your breath waiting.

I encourage you to take a couple of horse tranquilizers and find out why.

Horse's don't have the same lifespan as humans, different blood, different side effects.
