Honey lasts literally forever. They pulled honey pots from King Tut's tomb that were still good.
If it sits for a long time (years) it will crystalize. All you have to do is warm it a little to liquify it again.

My husband had a few honey bees in the early 1980s. We did not feed the bees sugar. The bees only had the natural things from our wooded area. I still have a half jar left and it is not crystalized. It tastes very good and has the same texture. It has not been in a sealed jar...just a jar with a screwband lid. I couldn't believe it was still good. That has been about 30 years. I just decided to research to see how long honey is suppose to last...thought I had discovered something new.

I had a jar of honey for 4 months now and it is still good!!! I put it in room temperature. No crystallization. Keep away from HEAT and away from TOO COLD!!! Simply in the kitchen cabinet with normal room temp. That is all!! Wipe the honey off the lid so ants will not come to the jar!!! Honey is good for those girls suffering from menstrual cramps. ADD APPLE CIDER VINEGAR--2 teaspoons with 8 ounce of warm water.Add 1 teaspoon of honey. This will stop the menstral cramps. Drink twice a day till no cramp. BUY BRAGG's APPLE CIDER VINEGAR--BEST BRAND!!!!

>An unsealed glass jar is the same thing as a glass jar that has been opened with the cap put back on (because, technically, the seal has been broken once it is opened). I would say that you still have a good year of shelf on it if you put the cap back on. If not, the clock starts ticking real fast, and I figure you have but a few days. In olden days, they used to cover jars of honey with a cloth and a tightly knotted string.

Honey never spoils you could have honey literally forever. It may crystallize on the sides of the jar, you just have to warm it up in the microwave or in small pan of water, and it will be fine.

Honey doesn't go bad, so it won't matter when your friend wants to do them. By the way, great idea for a wedding favor.

For your surprise honey is one if not the one product that never goes bad.
The expiry date on the honey containers is telling you only an estimated time to use it before it becomes cristalized. I dont know the term in english, but i mean when it loses its natural texture and you can only see like sugar on it.
Even in this case you can regenerate it by heat and disolving the sugar again.

Honey is the one type of food that never goes bad. Just make sure you keep it in room temperature. Heat destroys the nutrients while prolonged exposure to cold air will crystallize it. When it is crystallized, it is still good, you can just put the container in warm water to soften it.
