I have lost the element of surprise and when she sees me coming she hides under the bed. I've tried wrapping her in a towel but she always manages to squrm out. I trap her in the bathroom and then just rassle her down. Sometimes I don't think I get any of it in her eye at all. Poor kitty. Poor me. Any ideas?

What could be making tabby unhappy is that the drops may be cold. Follow the instructions above but before you drop in the med, hold the bottle in the palm of your hand and warn up the liquid to body temperature. (Do not warm any other way!!!)

It may be the element of surprise that's freaking her out.

Try applying the drops when she's relaxing, but treat her in the same way as you would when you're going to stroke her and don't sneak up and grab her.

Worth a try? If not, perhaps you could ask your vet for some tips. Maybe they could prescribe something that doesn't need applying more than once a day, that way perhaps you could call into the vets and the nurse could administer it for you?

Best of luck.x

I know what you are going through, all of my cats I've ever had do not like taking their medicine or being messed with in any way. The only way I know of that works for me most of the time is.... I sneak up on them while they are sleeping. get the cats head back by just scratching her head or other affection of some kind. This works because the cat no matter how many times I do this always tips the head back and looks at me adoringly and before they know what happened, medicine or eye drops are in. Got to be fast though, that's the trick!!!
Good luck, hope it works for you!!

I had a mouse with the same problem. Every time I tried to put the drop in her eye she peed on me, which means she was very unhappy about it. My advice is to stop harassing her and see if it will slowly get better without the drops. Keep her quiet and indoors for a few days and watch the eye. Otherwise make the vet.or the vet. assistant put them in.

My Ex's step daughter who's 35 now has eyes like that. they're continually gray while she gets up, and could stay like that on a cloudy day, till night, then they seem to be a eye-catching green On bright suitable days, even interior, her eyes will pass from the grey to a bright blue , for a super form of the day , nevertheless green after darkish. I even have prevalent a minimum of two or 3 different persons like that still. it incredibly is not all that trouble-free, yet isn't uncommon sufficient to be in the Ripley's e book.

I have a cat with feline herpes that needs 3 types of drops, totaling 9 drops a day...I feel for you.

Do it at feeding time. I'm assuming she comes out when you feed her, so before doing so, giver her the drop. The other time, sorry, you'll just have to surprise her.

hide the drops till she comes to you, try a pillow case with a hole for head (if can't get two people), pull down lower eyelid and put drops in there, then let blink, i know one time given eye ointment, was a little easier and appeared to last longer, it said put directly but i would put on finger then try to put across lower eyelid and let blink and spread out, ( but drops not same as ointment)

I agree with both warming in your hand and getting her when she's sleepy/relaxed. Also, you've trained her so that she know you will try to corner her with them. The best way to restrain a cat is to 'scruff' This is firmly holding the loose skin behind the neck.

I feel your pain! Try giving them to her when she is sleeping. Also, have someone else hold her while you put them in her eye. If all else fails- take her to the vet and have them do it. They normally do it at no cost.

From personal experiance- even if you get them in there once a day, it will help clear it up.

let her curl up in your lap and fall asleep. have someone quietly bring the drop to you and help hold her while you put them in. good luck, i have had to do it with my dog and its not easy but this
is the easiest way we found to make it work. and when you are done, if she will let you, cuddle with her so she knows you aren't to hurt her and that you love her.
