My bridesmaids are wearing gorgeous two piece burgandy outfits for my wedding, a basque top with a long fitted skirt. I'm not sure what colour shoes to go for though, would black look a little too like they were going to a ball? The wedding is in August, i chose the colour for the dresses then we moved the wedding forward couple months so it will be still quite summery in Aug, need some ideas on shoes that will match both the occasion, the dresses and the season! thanks x

Silver would look really nice with burgaundy. Silver is a great color for all seasons. My wedding is in april and my bridesmaids are wearing pale pink dresses and silver shoes.

For most summer weddings I've been in, seen, etc. they have chosen silver or clear. I think either or these colors would work as well as the black. I'm not a big fan of the, dyed shoes to match the dress that you will never wear again, idea. I say just pick the color and tell them some specifications like: sandles or closed toe, approximate heal hights (don't want anyone killing themselves), ankle strap (don't want to hear that flip flop sound going down the isle), etc. I think the black would be good and they could definatly wear a black shoe again (you can never have too many black shoes).

I think black would look nice with the outfit. You could go with a different style in august too. maybe a nice open toed slingback type of sandal with a nice heel. instead of a pump.

Black is also nice because a girl can always wear them again. I have a pair of gold shoes that I had to get for a wedding that I never wear. So it is nice for the bridesmaids if they can use the shoes again for noraml use.

that is one option.

are there any other colors in your wedding? They may be able to come into play iun the shoes maybe.

Good luck.

Black is nice and you can still manage to look elegant but if you dont want your day to look like a "typical" wedding, i would do gold not silver because silver looks better with pale or light colors. The only silver that would look really nice with Burgundy is Metallic Silver. Its a very very dark shimmery silver so i think that the dresses will stand out very well. This can be coordinated with metallic accesories as well, like a nice metallic silver clutch bag!

If not you can go with the traditional Burgundy and ivory or Burgundy and nude.

I've "bridesmaided" many times and often, we've had to dye shoes. That may be totally out of fashion nowadays (hope so, because you had to buy special shoes to do it!). It's an option, if still available.

What's wrong with strappy black sandals (with a wedge maybe)? Those would accomodate the warmer temperatures and I think they'd be lovely -- and not too over-poweringly "prim."
Congratulations and best wishes!

I say go with a really cute silver shoe. It will really make the dresses "pop". I personally never think black is a good color to wear unless the dress itself has a lot of black in it.

black is prefectly fine, or maybe if you can find some, silver or gold, depending on the accent colours your using. white will get dirty quickly, and they will stand out much. go for either black, an accent colour, or a neutral shade, so their feet don't stand out too much. and black wouldn't look like a ball....well, maybe, but a ball & a wedding are both (usually) formal occasions, and the same dress requirements are usually in place for both.

Matching shoes would be best if you can get them. There are companies that will custom dye shoes to match dresses but they are pricey! Black would be a no no, maybe gold or silver coloured sandals depending on your dress?

if its a long dress why not let the girls just wear whatever shoes they won't they won't show and if something happens and a toe peaks out-I promise nobody will care, thats one thing I am perfectly content to let my girls handle is their shoes. I think black would be fine if you still plan to dictate what they get, or what about clear or silver? either one would be fine, or lots of times you can get shoes dyed to match, but then they can only wear them with one dress, and if you let them do something more neutral they can at least get more use out of them. either way, tell them to get open toed

My mother's friend chose to get married with a "nature scene" so she also chose burgundy coloured dresses for her bridesmaids. Also, she had them wear like ivory & cream strap sandals since the colours go great with burgundy. You wont go wrong if you buy the ivory & cream coloured shoes. Wishing you luck on your wedding, hope you got a great photographer!
