Yisrael does mean Israel in Hebrew. There are definitely some really yummy Israel foods that you can try though...some of the foods are from home, while much more is based on the influx of Jews from al over the world when Israel became a state...The Jews living in Arab countries, when kicked out to Israel brought an entire Mid Eastern cuisine. The same for the Jews that escaped persecution and the holocaust from the West, they brough a whole different palate...

i live here. and i see you get a few wrong answers. yisrael is the name of the valley at the length of most of the Jordan river,from afula to dead sea. the hebrew name is Hemek Yisrael.
