they are both good cars- test drive them both, get prices and the one you like and can afford, get it. The only thing I would suggest, If you can drive manual get that. They are alot of fun. Keep up with the maintenance and either car should last a long time. I own a civic but the altima is good too

I own an altima and really the altima is compared to the accord due to its size. I love my car and have been in car sales for 3 years now for Infiniti. The new redesign is really nice on the altima. Not to mention, depending on equiptment you're looking for the altima is gonna give you more for your money. No major mechanical problems on either. You will be making a good choice either way you go but I think the altima is better looking, bigger, classier and more bang for your buck. Good luck!

I would rather get the Altima cause they're not so overrated like the Civic's are, most of the Altima's are automatics, about half of the Civic's are automatics.

We've owned a 96' Altima and currently have an 01' Altima. Both outstanding cars. Test drive them both to see which car suits you best. They both are very reliable cars.

Altima is the star of the Nissan lineup when it comes to reliability and customer loyalty. It is also a bigger roomier car that the Civic.

Which one can you afford?
Pro (Altima): Space, 3.5 engine, stay away from the 2.5, ample amounts of power
Pro (Civic): Efficient, inexpensive to operate/own, Honda Quality
Cons (Altima): 2.5L oil consumption problem, Nissan Quality, Premium Fuel (3.5L)
Cons (Civic): small, so-so power, parts available everywhere

Altima's are sharp. I own a Nissan Maxima and I really love Nissans. They are very dependable.

Visit the car's website and take a look at the interior/exterior photographs. also in http://www.autotrader.com.
You can get the car in automatic or manual. It does't matter they come both ways but you pay about $1000 more for an automatic.
