I know what it means. I went to theology school attented numerous amounts of denominational churches and spent 18 years of my life surrounded by church. So spare me the scriptures and the long explanations.

My moms mom is sick with a cold and has been for the past couple of days. This morning I heard my moms stepdad say "in the name of jesus christ you will be healed"....

Last time I checked....she is still sick...is there a timeline for that? i mean if you say it like that you would expect for it to happen immediately. Or at the end of the week when shes better will jesus still get the credit??

thats convinient...(sp.??)

some people believe that by using these

terms, they can receive anything without

a doubt = thinking that a god, up in the

heavens, is signing a check, or approving

a credit card purchase, so they can have

anything they want:A Very Expensive House or

their worries gone (instead of dealing with

their challenges in life through knowledge and

self-understanding, which we all as human

beings CAN Do), or by using these words, &

terms they think they'll receive any healings

mentally, physically, emotionally, psychologically

for themselves or for someone else.

I am not saying that My Way, My Philosophy of

life IS the Only Way !! But in Buddhism,

it is taught that we, as human beings have ALL

the abilities, all the power, all the talents,

and all the skills already within us (sometimes

they may need to be Cultivated a bit) to

attain anything we need in this life through our

own Logic and Understanding. Their god

taught them to believe him for the miracles he

did. Buddhists suspend judgment on whether

or not there is a god, UNTIL there is enough

infallible Proven, Evidence given to convince

us that there is a creator god, in which to pray

to ! Atheists do NOT have to Prove anything

to anyone that there is Not a god, it is those

who believe in a creator god, which they pray

to = that Must prove through Scientific Evidence

to us, that there is a creator god.

And with all the religions out there, argueing

with one another, that they alone have the

true infallible words of god, written in their holy

books, and that they alone know the one true

god, yet they all ridicule, mock, and condemn

and judge each other harshly while their god

tells them NOT to Judge (Matt. 7:1-5): with all

this going on - this unwholesome treatment and

, not setting a good example,

but being such Hypocrites, = what makes them

think that Atheists, and Buddhists will ever

trust, or believe in their god, or their way of

life ? There is ALOT in which they have to try

and prove to us atheists, especially the

irrefutable evidence of a god, before we'll

ever even consider to convert to their religion !

Atheist have nothing to defend. We are Very

Firmly Established People with our Philo-

sophy of Life. To give up Logic as well as

Self-Understanding, AND to begin to live

a life by a mere blind faith is NOT some-

thing we would be so readily willing

to do ! !

Misunderstanding of the scripture on most Christians behalf.

Jesus said I will give you anything you ask in my name. In Jesus' name does not mean that you say His name after everything you request... It means that everything you ask for should be in alignment with His will and for His glory.

Some believe however that it could be a lack of faith that causes prayers to go unanswered, I believe it is becuase Christians make claims before they know what God has to say about it. May not be a lack of faith, but a lack of consideration for what Gods will is.

It is sometimes a vanity issue in some preachers as well.

I believe Jesus is God and is capable of anything. However I also believe he has a plan, and I need to know what that is before I go rambling off a strong command of health for someone God may have other plans for.

A cold? Take some Tylenol or Nyquil.

If someone beats cancer, or something equivalent, even without being prayed for, that is a miracle straight from God.

And the reason people shouldn't pray. Since god says, "YES!" "no..." or "wait for it..." no matter WHAT happens, god has "answered" your prayer. try praying the same prayer to a Christmas Cactus, and i guarantee that statistically you will get the same results. So yes, it is convenient... just comfort your mom's mom in her time of need, that's all we are really here for when it comes to family. she may or may not need to hear about "believing on jesus," and "in christ's name," and stuff, but she probably would like company and maybe to share a few fond memories, you know?

I do not think it has to happen amidiatly and it should be in his will it sees a bit extream for a cold to use those words but I can see no harm in it.
