Forget the protein powders, mixes, etc - it's all expensive for what you get.

Check different kinds of beans - some have lots of protein. You may have to get some Beano to go with them, but that's OK. Eat lots of tuna and chicken too, but peel off the skin. Try tofu or peanut butter occasionally for a break.

Canned sardines are a very high source of excellent protein (17 grams a can) and cost very little. They are also full of omega 3.

Otherwise, try bulk, dried beans, soak and cook them yourself. Good source of protein - but not as good as sardines.

Hope that helps!

Tuna is the absolute best. Make sure it's in water not oil. 30g protein, 0.9g fat, 0g carb. I used to eat it straight out of the can, If you can't handle the dry taste, add 1/2 spoon of LIGHT mayo and make 2 sandwiches with it. It's the cheapest you can get.

dried beans and rice. the combination of beans and rice yields a complete protein package at pennies per serving. peanut butter and canned fish are also good, though more expensive, sources of protein.

ditto to all the responses.. Good choices.. If you have no money. your cheapest and healthiest protiein would be beans/lentils. Add some brown rice and corn tortillas and you would have some good protein .Eggs are relatively inexpensive too.
