my boyfriend and i have a male cat. he is not fixed. i don't know how old he is since we found him outside. at times our cat will bite us when sitting on our lap for about two minutes. he has sometimes even bitten our neck when one of us is lying down. we are both kind of scared of having him close to us because we don't want him to bite us. we can kind of tell when he is going to bite us because he does this weird kind of meowing sound when we move or try to get him off. i wanted to know why he does this and how we can stop this behavior.

First thing you should do is have the cat neutered. Call a vet and ask them if that could be why he is biting you. Is he an indoor or outdoor cat? If he is not being allowed outside to find himself a girl kitty, that would give him cause to bite you and your boyfriend, don't ya think?
All cats I've ever had go through some kind of weirdness until they're fixed. The weird meowing is one of the signs for sure. You better take him to the vet soon, no telling what he is capable of!! lol

my cat "nips" at me sometimes too. he is a male and he is fixed, but he does it when he wants attention. even if i am giving him lots of attention, he will do it as sort of a loving gesture. remember that wild cats bite their young or their mates to be playful and loving, so it sounds like it is the wild cat in him coming out... especially with all those kitty hormones from not being fixed. if you don't like it, give him a whap on the head (sternly, but not too hard) and say NO! every time he bites... don't do it before he bites or else he won't know why you are hitting and yelling at him. if that doesn't work, you can also keep a spray bottle near and spray him with it when he "attacks". with some discipline, he should be much better about it soon.

As with a dog you have to show him your the boss, even though cats dont like this, he can sense your fear and will keep doing it.If your laying down and this is the only time he does it,when you see him approach or you feel him 1st come up, as gently but firmly as you can put him down with a no, after a while he wil get the idea.

Do you have a crucifix or a garlic clove you could wear? Sorry, just kidding!

Seriously, I've never heard of a cat doing that. We have two cats and when they misbehave we have a spray bottle with water in it and we squirt them. I've heard that cats don't respond well to other "punishments". Maybe if you squirted him when he starts in with his weird meowing, it might show him who's boss.

Everytime he bites you, you need to bite him back, only harder. Another less radical method would be to use a tube from a paper towel roll and hit him with it. It makes a good sound that will alarm him, but won't hurt him.

I think your cat has reached sexual maturity. We have a tom who did this, but to my mongolian fur cushions & my mum's handbag!

If you aren't planning on breeding from your tom, getting him neutered will solve the problem.

Poor little thing is frustrated, but at least you know he loves you!

Sounds like he's trying to kill you so he can eat you. Have you tried feeding him?
