Make an appointment with a pain management doctor in your area and they will be able to help you immensely as this is all they treat is pain. Also look for a pain support group in your area. Once you see the doc they will be able to point you to such a group. You can also try chair yoga if you are unable to do regular yoga. My friends pain support group and pain doc hands out papers and teaches all of the participants how to do it.

Methadone isn't usually used for management of long-term, chronic pain; it's used mainly as a maintenance treatment for persons with a history of opiate dependence {mostly heroin dependence, but also for dependence to Demerol, Percocet and other opiate medications [painkillers]}. There are better alternatives for management of chronic pain, but the medication to use depends greatly on the condition which is causing your pain. For example, for patients with cancer, opiate medications such as Percocet, Morphine, Lortab, Demerol and others are usually used. For pain due to inflamatory conditions such as arthritis, non-steroidal anti-inflamatories {Motrin, Anaprox, Naprosyn, Relafen} are the drugs of choice. Nerve blockage is also used for management of localized chronic pain that is unresponsive to medications. Talk to your attending physician about other alternatives for the management of your condition; he/she should consider an alternative to Methadone for pain management. Good luck, and hope that my advise has been of help.

HI! I'm another person living in chronic pain due to severe scoliosis, etc. The only thing that comes to mind with Methodone is to not mix it with other drugs. That is what killed Anna Nicole's son.........he was on Methodone and was taking some kind of anti-depressent and just never woke up???????????????? Just be careful with the Methodone and take STRICTLY as dr's orders.............i take Lortab myself, ugh! I'm SO SICK of meds, pills, pills, pills,.....................good luck!!!!!!!!!!
