My stbx husband let his green card expire and is too lazy and cheap to renew it. He is driving with a suspended license, owes back federal taxes, and has a tax lien in NY. He thinks he is above the law but I want his freeloading butt out of my life. Can he be deported if caught?

Not easily. The green card issue is your biggest bet but he can file to renew it. Having back taxies and a tax lien doesn't constitute someone being liable to be deported unless it is something criminal and he is convicted. Driving under a suspended license is also not anything above a misdeameanor and won't really affect his legal status here.

Yes. Thanks to the new 911 laws, this is a violation that would get him deported. Call INS and make a complaint. You do not have to use your name. You can also call the IRS. Even illegals have to pay some form of taxes. They will start an investigation and it could lead to jail and deportation.
If the suspended license is because of a DWI or DUI, you should call the cops. He will be in a CRAP load of trouble! if it is for parking tickets, call the DMV. They would like there money and have investigators who handle these kinds of things.

If he doesn't care why should any one else, but yeah it looks like he taking the right road to deportation if he ever applies for citizenship. But only his card is expired not his status, in other words he does not have CURRENT proof of status.

From the deportation stories that I've heard, he would have had to killed somebody... and then repeatedly reminded athorities to deport him, to actually get it.
I've heard stories from actually illegal aliens that they have been arrested, gone to court, and ordered to meet someone at a given date to be deported... and then freed on good faith to report back on that date. Very few ever get deported.

Report him. If he is driving under suspension I would bet he has no insurance so if he is in an accident the other party will get screwed. Your choice in men is really not great better luck next time.
