With mans ability to do so much, why is there so many different understanding of Gods word?
Is God blocking out the minds of the wise people and revealing the Bibles secrets to those who have the right heart conditions?
Is that why only a small number can reason from the Bible?

Man will dominate man, to his own injury. There is no hope in man. Jeremiah was very wise. I have yet to hear a good interpretation by a women. That would be like a lone voice, among the men, crying out in the wilderness of babble and confusion don't you think?

I've studied the top 5 major religions heavily, I think I have a pretty solid understanding of the Bible, it is some pretty twisted stuff. It is hard for many to understand nowadays because people look at it from a contemporary perspective, the truth is, it was written by men, in a time when violence was much more acceptable and death was not a shocking event. Discrimination against women and slavery were common, thus this explains why all these things are very prevelant in the Bible.

For starters, you might ask - which is "the" Bible?

Let's see:
Judaic Torah etc.
Christian New Testament, Roman Catholic version
Christian New Testament, many Protestant versions
The Holy Qu'ran
The Book of Mormon
The Baghavad Gita
The Tibetan Book of the Dead
Science and Health, by Mary Baker Eddy
Dianetics, by L. Ron Hubbard
The Egyptian Books of the Dead
The Icelandic Sagas
The Analects of Confucius
The Upanishads
etc. etc.

Oh, you mean only one of these holy books is the revealed word of God? Hmmm. Doesn't it occur to you that the one you think is special just might be chosen just because of the particular culture you happened to be born and raised in?

Why not use your inquiring mind instead of expecting some ready-made answers to be handed to you from some book?

The biggest problem is that the Bible is SPIRITUAL and we are unspiritual. The Holy Spirit aids people in their understanding. But just because one has the H.S. does not mean they will completely agree with everyone else.

And I have a feeling that the Great Deciever has something to do with it as well.

And you know, I bet all Christians on here will claim they can "reason" from the Bible. But I know a lot on here can't, based on their answers.

because man, born with an evil nature, cannot discern things of the Spirit of God.
They, themselves, are blocking out God's Truths.
because man is unable to save himself.
because God is revealing the Bibles secrets to those who have the right heart conditions.

Man can understanding of the Bible in unity. The Christian Church did so for 1,200 years after the Bible was first compiled. Then the plague of denominationalism descended upon the Christian faith, where men rejected the God-given authority of His holy Church, the scriptural "pillar and foundation of truth", and decided that a book would be their new authority, and that they would interpret it for themselves (which of course made themselves, not the book, the final authority). Since then manmade denominations have appeared by the thousands, all claiming to find their beliefs right in the Bible, yet not agreeing on a single belief. In the meantime, the Church Christ founded continues to teach the fullness of Christian truth in unity, without conflicting beliefs, without denominations, without having to compromise the Word of God in order to support their beliefs, because their God-inspired beliefs are the source of the book. Which of these scenarios sounds more like the will of God, spoken by His own lips ... "that they all may be ONE, even as Thou Father and I are ONE"?

Only those with the Holy Spirit of God can fully understand the Word of God....

" For the natural man receives NOT the things of the Spirirt of God , for they are foolishness unto him, neither can he know them, for they are spiritually discerned" - I Corin. 2:14

People see and understand what they want to see and understand. If one person sees the bible in a certain light it because they want to see it that way. Only those who strive to be perfect in the eyes of God as Christ instructed us to, will see it as He intended it to be seen. Because we will want to see what is actually before us, not what is convenient.

The secret to understanding the Bible is to first you MUST believe it. "God said it, I believe it, that settles it" kind of thing. Any thing else can lead to error.

if we all just let the Holy Spirit say what His word means, we'd all be fine. When mankind introduces its own logic into God's Word, problems arise.
