I have lived with my boyfriend for 4 years, and I am 21 years old. For the past 9mnths I have been without a job. Can he claim me and file as head of the household since his name is on all of the loads and bills. My name is not on any of or bills, so since He did take care of me can he claim me?

Unfortunately, not. Head of Household (HoH) is mostly intended for single parents, not unrelated friends. If he lived with and supported over 1/2 the costs of a home where he lived with a dependent family member (child, grandchild, sibling, descendant of a sibling, parent, aunt, uncle , etc.) then he could possibly claim HoH...but an unrelated person will never allow someone to claim this filing status. He should file as Single if he was not legally married to anyone as of December 31st, 2006. Single isn't all that bad.

As Judy said, he could claim you as a dependent (even though you don't qualify him for HoH) if you lived with him all year and earned less than $3,300.

Sorry for the bad news.

No, you may no longer record as HoH. HoH is for single taxpayers, including married people who separated earlier July 1st. by using fact which you and your substantial different stay together, your in basic terms possibilities are Married submitting together and Married submitting one after the other. MFJ is often the suited wager, inspite of the shown fact that maximum mavens advise you prepare returns the two techniques just to confirm.

He can't claim you for being able to file head of household. Only certain blood relatives, or relatives by marriage, would make him eligible for that. Unrelated people don't.

If you made under $3300 gross income last year, he might be able to claim you as a dependent. If you made more than $3300, he can't claim you as a dependent either.
