i promised my girlfriend a kitten for valentines day. simple right? wrong! turns out cats don't really have kittens this time of year (who knew). i've tried tons of animal shelters, and they all say that they'll be up to their necks in kittens in a couple of months, but none of them can help me now. so, if anyone has kittens for sale, or for free in Georgia (preferably in the Atl area), please let me know. any other ideas as to where to find kittens will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Hi there...consider either Petfinder http://www.petfinder.com or Atlanta Craigslist: http://atlanta.craigslist.org/pet/ . Most people post online every minute on a daily basis so be sure to check back often.

Picking out a pet for somebody else can backfire on you. She really should go with you to pick out the kitty. More than one person has told me that "he (the cat) picked me out" when I asked them why they chose their cat.
I suggest buying a cute small stuffed or china kitty and explaining about the natural shortage of kittens. Tell her that in a few months you will go to the shelter and pick out the real kitten.

First of all, animals should not be given as pets. Since your girlfriend has expressed she wants one, though, you should be safe.

PLEASE bring your gf with you when you go to pick out the kitten. Try www.petfinder.com. You may end up picking out one that loves you and hates her.

Yeah, it's not really kitten "season". Try the humane societies around the atlanta area. Sometimes if they don't have kittens, they will have recommendations of private organizations that might. Also, try www.petfinder.com

Good luck!
